ABOUT THE FOUNDER
Meet Mariella
Creative director, strategist, and lifelong student of the aesthetic.

A QUIET INTRODUCTION
Hi, I'm Mariella — the founder and creative director behind The Social Edit.
My career began in healthcare when I was just 18 years old. I immediately fell in love with patient care and the relationships I built while working alongside physicians, nurses, and healthcare professionals. Over the years, I had the privilege of working with ophthalmologists, dermatologists, plastic surgeons, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants — and that's where my passion for aesthetics truly began.
The more I immersed myself in the industry, the more I realized I loved not only the medicine behind it, but also the artistry, confidence, and transformation it brings to people's lives.
While working as a Medical Assistant at Sandel Duggal Center for Plastic Surgery, I was given an opportunity that completely changed the course of my career — I was asked to take on marketing while continuing my clinical role. That experience allowed me to combine my medical background with my creative side, and I quickly realized I had found what I was meant to do.
Since then, I've had the opportunity to create content, develop marketing strategies, and build brands for plastic surgery practices, med spas, salons, wellness practices, and beauty businesses. My medical background gives me a unique perspective — I don't just understand marketing; I understand the procedures, the patients, and the level of trust it takes for someone to choose your business. That understanding lets me create content that is educational, authentic, visually elevated, and strategically designed to connect with the right audience.
Today, at 30 years old, I'm fortunate enough to do what I truly love.

OFF THE CLOCK
A little life behind the brand.
I'm originally from Arlington, Virginia, where I spent much of my life just outside Washington, D.C. About eight years ago, I moved to the Annapolis area and now call Severna Park, Maryland home with my husband, David, and our dog, Duke.
Outside of work, you'll usually find me at Pilates, enjoying a glass of white wine with friends, grabbing pizza, listening to music, or spending time with my family. My favorite color is a rich wine or burgundy — which probably explains why it naturally finds its way into so much of my creative work.
I've always had an appreciation for timeless design, thoughtful details, and elevated experiences. I notice the little things — the details that often go unnoticed — and I believe those are the things that separate good brands from unforgettable ones.
THE ORIGIN
Why I created The Social Edit.
The Social Edit was born from something I've done for years without even realizing it. I'm constantly observing businesses and brands — whether it's a luxury fashion label, a boutique hotel, a salon, a med spa, a plastic surgery practice, or even a local coffee shop, my mind naturally starts thinking about how they present themselves.
I notice the details.
I find myself thinking, "Their work is incredible, but they're not showcasing it the right way," or "Their branding doesn't reflect how amazing their business really is." I can see the potential before many people do, and I genuinely enjoy finding creative ways to help businesses become the very best version of themselves.
Eventually, I realized this wasn't just something I enjoyed — it was how my mind naturally worked. That's why I created The Social Edit.
I didn't want to build another marketing agency that simply schedules posts or checks off a monthly content calendar. I wanted to create a boutique creative studio that becomes an extension of the businesses it serves.
Because in today's world, blending in is easy.
Standing out is intentional.
Every business has a story worth telling. My job is to uncover what makes your business different, showcase what makes it special, and create a brand presence that people remember long after they've scrolled past.

THE STUDIO VALUES
What guides every edit.
01
Considered
Every asset is designed with intention. Nothing shipped for the sake of a posting schedule.
02
Editorial
We build feeds and campaigns that read like a magazine — because your brand deserves to.
03
Personal
A small roster of clients per season. You'll never be handed off to a junior manager.
04
Timeless
Trend-aware, never trend-led. Content that will still feel considered a year from now.
MY PHILOSOPHY
I don't believe in having clients.
When we work together, I become an extension of your business.
I have tremendous respect for entrepreneurs because I know the amount of sacrifice, long nights, risk, and dedication it takes to build something from the ground up. Your business isn't just a job — it's something you've poured your heart into. That deserves someone who will care about it just as much as you do.
My role goes far beyond creating beautiful social media posts. I'm here to represent your business as if it were my own — to tell your story, showcase your expertise, and create content that reflects the quality and reputation you've worked so hard to build.
The strongest brands aren't always the loudest —
they're the most authentic.
Community matters to me. Relationships matter to me. Genuine human connection matters to me. Every photograph, every video, every caption, every campaign, and every strategy I create has a purpose — to build trust, create meaningful connections, elevate your brand, and help your business grow in a way that feels authentic to you.
When you choose The Social Edit, you're not hiring someone to manage your social media. You're gaining a creative partner who is just as invested in your success as you are.
